The new Miss Universe 2011, Leila Lopes gave Angola their first ever title and a good enough reason to feel proud. This year, the event was held at the Credicard Hall, in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Miss Universe 2010 - Ximena Navarrete of Mexico passed on her crown on to the next beauty.
When she was asked the final question about what physical trait she would change if she could. 25 year old Leila answered confidently as she said "Thank God I'm very satisfied with the way God created me and I wouldn't change a thing,I consider myself a woman endowed with inner beauty. I have acquired many wonderful principles from my family and I intend to follow these for the rest of my life."
Leila hails from Benguela, Angola. She was born in 1986 but stays in the UK as a business management student. She is a 5 '10 inches
The first runner-up was 23-year-old Olesia Stefanko of Ukraine and the second runner-up was Priscila Machado of Brazil. The third was Miss Philippines and the fourth Miss China.
India's hopes were dashed early into the competition's final rounds after contestant Vasuki Sunkavalli failed to make it to the top 10. After the top 10 list of finalists was announced Vasuki tweeted "sorry. if I upset many. I did give it my best shot. may the most deserving girl win.."
This year's Miss Universe marked the 60th anniversary of the pageant and was celebrated with some extra dose of glamor and glitz.
